January

” It was summer when she met him, smack in the middle of her world. Eyes as dark as coal, soul as bright as gold. He was a gentle reminder of kinder times. Someone that made her recall summers with much less disdain than she felt within her. He was the first of many loves that never fulfilled their purpose. “

You remind me
Of times
That breathe
Beginnings.

The start,
To a broken
Finish.

Of whispers
In the dark,
And footsteps
On creeking wood.

Like dallops
Of gold
Clumped within
shades of cold.

Of shy smiles
And rosy cheeks-
The hesitance
Of desires
Rushing in the folds
Of an innocence
Within.

Clear skies,
Bikes down the road.
There’s the sun
Gracing you
With its touch.

You’re like
The spark
Of youth-
Of a rebellion
That never toils.

Of endless
Warmth
Incased in
frostbite.

Of sharp tounged
Lies,
And bitter
goodbyes.

Just a little
Bit of
J A N U A R Y
Heaving in the guise
Of summertime.
